Qualification Description

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to monitor the safety of transport activities.

It includes determining and monitoring chain of responsibility features in the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) or applicable state/territory law and regulations. It also involves administering and monitoring chain of responsibility workplace policies and procedures, and identifying and reporting chain of responsibility risks.

Work is performed under general direction.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Entry Requirements

Although the training product does not stipulate any entry requirements for this training product.

AIS has the following entry requirements in place:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Participate in a course entry interview (pre-enrolment review) to determine suitability of the course and additional support needs.
  • Undertake AIS’s ACSF LLN assessment. 

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

To successfully complete this unit of competency you will require access to the following PPE.

  • Hard hat
  • Reflective vest
  • Safety boots
  • Gloves
  • Protective clothing

Although AIS has made the following available for your training and assessment due to health and hygiene requirements it is recommended that you bring your own PPE. You MUST bring your own safety boots as this cannot be provided by AIS.

For online students – You must have access to a computer or portable device with webcam and Microsoft Word or Similar connected to internet. You must be currently working in the Transport and Logistics industry and have access to a prime mover and trailer for practical assessment and be supervised by your workplace supervisor approved by AIS.

Assessment System

Units are assessed individually via a range of assessment methods:

Written Assessment, Case Studies and Practical Demonstration (conducted under direct observation of the assessor or an approved third party such as your workplace supervisor).

Assessment Appeals

Students can make an appeal against any assessment decision by following the Complaints and Appeals Policy outlined in the Student Handbook and our website.
